Terms & Conditions

Version 1.0 · Last updated 30 June 2026

1. Who you're contracting with

These terms form a contract between you (the player) and Big Dave Pool Promotions, a sole-trader business operated by David Pollard ("we", "us"). By registering for any tournament listed on this site, or by using the "Pay for event" page, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice.

2. Entries

  • You must be 18 or over to enter, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
  • You must give us your real full name, a working email address and a mobile number so we can contact you about the comp.
  • Your place is only secured once payment (or a deposit, where allowed) is received. If you pay by bank transfer or PayPal, your spot is provisional until Dave confirms receipt.
  • Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.
  • Where a tournament is full, you may join the waitlist. We'll offer you a spot — in order — if a paid place is released.

3. Grading

We maintain a grading list to keep tournaments fair. If a tournament is restricted to certain grades and the grade we hold for you is higher than the restriction, your entry may be flagged for review and Dave may refuse it. If you think your grade is wrong, email Dave and we will review it.

4. Fees, deposits and credits

  • Entry fees are shown on each tournament's page. Where a deposit is listed, it secures your place; the balance is due by the date stated.
  • A standard 10% rake is included in the entry fee unless stated otherwise.
  • Credits issued by us (e.g. from a previous pull-out) can be redeemed against any future tournament entry of equal or greater value. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value.

5. Refunds & pull-outs

If you pull out of a tournament you have paid for:

  • More than 7 days before the start of the tournament: you will receive a credit to use against a future Big Dave Pool Promotions tournament.
  • Within 7 days of the start of the tournament: no refund and no credit is given, as your place can no longer be reasonably resold.
  • At the organiser's discretion, a refund may be issued instead of a credit in exceptional circumstances.
  • Deposits (where listed) are non-refundable.

6. Cancellation by the organiser

If we cancel a tournament before it starts, all paid entries will receive either a full refund or a credit (your choice). If a tournament has to be abandoned once started for reasons outside our control (e.g. venue closure, power cut), prize money already won at the point of abandonment will be honoured; remaining stakes will be returned pro-rata where possible.

7. Code of conduct

  • Be respectful to other players, referees, venue staff and the organiser.
  • Abuse, threats, cheating, intoxication or behaviour that brings the comp into disrepute will lead to disqualification without refund and may result in a ban from future events.
  • Follow the published rule set for the tournament (Blackball Rules / International Rules / Other as stated).
  • Follow the host venue's rules at all times.

8. Photography & livestreaming

Some tournaments are streamed or photographed for promotion. By entering you agree that your name, image and gameplay may appear in event coverage. If you don't want to be filmed, let Dave know when you arrive and we will do our best to keep you off-camera.

9. Liability

We are not liable for any loss, theft or damage to your personal property at a venue. We are not liable for personal injury sustained while playing, except where caused by our negligence. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any tournament is limited to the entry fee you paid for that tournament. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Changes

We may need to change the format, venue or schedule of a tournament if circumstances require it. We'll tell you as soon as possible and, where the change is material, give you the option to take a credit instead.

11. Data protection

How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Notice.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
